inzektor Gruf

I've been negligent in my duties to post the card of the week. So now here's a long overdue article of Inzektor Gruff




At first glance this guy doesn't seem like much. His attack and defense are rather pitiful after all. But he makes up for it for his special ability. He can be equipped to any Inzektor monster, which is what most inzektors can do. inzektor Gruf is a special case though. Like Hornet, it can detach itself from the monster it is equipped to in order to use his special talent. Whereas Hornet destroys one card upon it's detachment, Gruf allows you to increase the level of your monster by either one or two. This allows you to access up to more different ranks of Exceed monsters. And if you use this card with Inzektor Dragonfly, you can summon another Inzektor from your deck. And if you use him with Centepede, you can add an Inzektor monster to your hand while increasing the levels of your monsters. Both Dragonfly and Centipede are 3, so you can change them to a level 4 or 5 in order to bring out a more powerful Exceed monster. And you can use this guy on the first turn when your opponent doesn't have any cards on the field to pop with hornet: just simply increase the level of your monsters and summon a powerful exceed monster for good field presence. This also has potential to allow synchro variants of Inzektors to be popular, as you can manipulate the levels to get a particular synchro that best fits the current situation.

All and all, this is an amazing card that allows for some amazing combos, and when it comes out in the TCG, it will take the world of yugioh by storm.
